Why We Created Salone Class Room
Technology has changed how people find information, communicate, and learn. Today, many pupils, students, and teachers spend more time using mobile phones, laptops, and other digital devices than visiting traditional libraries. Salone Class Room was created to bring useful educational support closer to people through the devices they already use.
By making learning resources easier to access online, we hope to encourage pupils and students to use part of their time on digital devices for meaningful learning, revision, and academic development, rather than being distracted by online content that does not contribute positively to their education.
Supporting Accessible Education in Sierra Leone
Salone Class Room is designed to complement the Government of Sierra Leone's efforts to make education more accessible and affordable. Our goal is to provide additional learning and teaching support to Sierra Leoneans regardless of where they live. As long as reliable internet access is available, a learner or teacher can use Salone Class Room to obtain educational guidance from a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
This is particularly important for learners and teachers in communities where access to libraries, textbooks and other educational resources may be limited.
Supporting Teachers
Salone Class Room also provides practical support for teachers. It can help teachers prepare lesson notes and prepare theory examination questions for classroom assessment. It may also be useful to individuals supporting learning who can read and write effectively but have had limited access to formal teacher training, helping them prepare more carefully and make a more positive contribution in the classroom.
The platform, however, does not provide a teaching qualification and should not be regarded as a substitute for professional teacher training, approved curricula, official textbooks, teacher guides or other materials prescribed by the relevant education authorities.
Why We Encourage Writing Instead of Direct Download
Salone Class Room intentionally does not make direct downloading the main way of collecting learning materials. Our aim is to encourage active learning rather than simply allowing pupils, students and teachers to download information without carefully engaging with it.
When learners read useful information and write or copy the important points into their notebooks, they spend more time thinking about what they are learning. Writing can also support concentration, note-taking habits, revision and better understanding. For teachers, carefully transferring and adapting useful material into their lesson notes can encourage proper preparation before teaching a lesson.
This approach is not intended to make learning unnecessarily difficult. It is designed to promote participation, responsibility and good study habits. Users are encouraged to read, understand, select relevant information, and write down what is useful rather than depending only on ready-made downloaded materials.
Important Educational Notice
Salone Class Room is a supplementary educational support platform. It is not a replacement for formal schooling, qualified teachers, lecturers, supervisors, approved textbooks, official curricula, syllabuses or other recognised learning and teaching materials. Users should use the platform together with, and not instead of, the formal educational resources and professional guidance available to them.
Because the platform relies on technology, artificial intelligence and internet connectivity, information may occasionally contain errors, incomplete explanations or technical limitations. Access can also be affected by internet availability, device problems, third-party services or other circumstances beyond the direct control of Salone Class Room. Users are therefore encouraged to verify important academic information against official materials and seek clarification from their teachers or other qualified education professionals where necessary.
Guidance for University Students
The university and research tools on Salone Class Room are intended to provide guidance, help students understand academic processes, and support the organisation of their own work. They should not be used to replace independent academic work or the official requirements of a university.
University students, particularly those working on proposals, research projects, dissertations, or theses, should continue to work closely with their lecturers, research supervisors, and departments. Where guidance from Salone Class Room differs from the requirements of a student's institution or supervisor, the institution's official requirements and the supervisor's guidance should take priority.
Our Purpose
Salone Class Room aims to use technology responsibly to make learning support easier to access, encourage productive use of digital devices and contribute to a more informed and educated Sierra Leone.
